SICE begins its activity in Bolivia developing and supplying checkpoints for weight control and toll collection carrying out a transportation study concerning the whole road network in the country

The ABC- Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras (The Body managing roads in Bolivia) has designated SICE as the company awarded to build and supply of checkpoints for weight and size control, toll collection stations and control center. The company will also perform a comprehensive transportation study concerning the whole road network.

This contract is financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) whose scope includes the executive design, construction, installation and commissioning of weighing and toll stations, control and monitoring centers and laboratory for metrological verification of weighing stations. Six mobile weighing stations and the transportation study of the whole Bolivia’s road network are also included. The contract is expected to be carried out over 13 months.

The transportation study is essential for the Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras, since the lack of effective equipment for control cargo and passenger transportation is one of the causes of the rapid deterioration on roads. The road where the weighing and toll stations will be installed runs from La Paz to Oruro and Cochabamba. Four weights and dimensions control stations will be installed in the following cities: Achica Arriba, Caracollo, Caihuasi and Suticollo, with cutting-edge technology. Every station will be provided with a high-speed weighing system, a medium-speed weighing system and a low-speed weighing system. In addition, there will be a 3-dimensional vehicle classification and measurement system, automatic RFID identification systems and automatic license plate reading and an evader and leakage control system.

In addition, there will be four toll collection systems installed in the following cities: Achica Arriba, Sica Sica Sica, San Pedro and Caracollo. Every toll booth will have a toll station and four lanes, the TAG charge through RFID or manual antenna will be possible.
