SICE will renovate the SCADA system of the Segura AHIS, integrating into the process the post-transfer AHIS, the OFSN, the AWQIS, and the CUCS

In the contract for the operation, maintenance, and conservation of the AHIS, AWQIS, OFSN, POST-TRANSFER AHIS, and CUCS of the Segura River Basin that the Directorate-General for Water granted to SICE around the middle of 2020, the development of a new SCADA is foreseen, as well as a graphical interface that will integrate the different systems.

The new system to be implemented by SICE over the next few months provides “simpler” engineering with the ability to automate the engineering process, as well as improved data management, thus enhancing visibility, efficiency, and usability and reducing down time.

But, above all, the new system will provide a unified platform and single graphic interface to significantly reduce its operational complexity and to make its usage and the decision-making process easier. As a result, the Hydrological Information System of the Segura Basin will evolve to be more open, safe, flexible, and accessible – boosting its digital transformation.

These are the types of features that allow organizations to save significant amounts of time and money thanks to SCADA systems. They can help companies to increase the efficiency of their operations, reduce down times, ensure product quality, and much more.

The project, an essential service that got underway during the month of August, aims to operate and maintain the Automatic Hydrological Information System - AHIS (the Basin and the Post-Transfer networks), the Automatic Water Quality Information System (AWQIS), the Official Flow Station Network (OFSN), and the Comprehensive Usage Control System (CUCS) of the Segura Basin.  The project also includes the Remote Monitoring System at reservoirs and control points, as well as all the installations and services dependent thereon. All of this aims to guarantee perfect, stable operation over time and to provide multiple informational services to the different units, areas, and departments of the Confederation so that it can better undertake its responsibilities, as well as to distribute information to external users (especially Civil Protection, the State Meteorological Agency, and the Government of Aragon) in adverse situations by means of proper operations and exploitation.

Therefore, it is vitally important to renovate the current data supervision, monitoring, and acquisition system in order to modernize it with a solution that will allow the Confederation to make the most of its hydrological information.
